5 Things to Know About Your Photographer Before Booking

When booking your wedding photographer, there are so many aspects to consider. Trusting your photographer with your photo shoot can take a lot of… Well trust! So, how do you know who is the right person to go with? We’ve asked Photographer, Johannes, to give us 5 Things to Know About Your Photographer Before Booking!

Passion

How passionate is your photographer about shooting weddings? This is important! Everyone has a cheesy family photo somewhere and very often this can come from a photographer who is not passionate about portraits. According to wedding photographer, Johannes Roux, an important question to as is ‘why do they shoot weddings and what sets them apart from other photographers?’ He also mentions how important it is to take note to listen to their response – a photographer who is passionate about shooting weddings will always have an interesting and lively response!

Meeting

Meeting your photographer in person will give you a chance to see if there is a sense of excitement between you and if you can see yourself being comfortable with him or her. Johannes reminds us that you will have to spend a minimum 8 – 12 hours in this person’s company so it’s important to know you will feel 100% yourself!

Reviews

Does your photographer offer any reviews from other satisfied clients he or she has had in the past? Johannes mentions this as an important point. After all, there is nothing better than hearing it from the horse’s mouth.

Portfolio

Johannes mentions that it is very important to find out what you are deciding to purchase in your package. Album sizes, cover materials, printing sizes and many other aspects of the wedding package are often not considered as part of what is included.

Wedding Photography Insurance

It’s very important then taking photos at a wedding that your photographer is protected and insured. For peace of mind as well as many other things, photography insurance covers the photographer against equipment theft but also covers him in case a guest trips over some equipment. Chances may be, that if a photographer doesn’t have insurance, he or she is new to the industry or may not be taking their business seriously.

Johannes is a professional photographer who has a passion for photography as well as anything chocolate flavoured!
