How to Clean Your Engagement Ring

How to Clean Your Engagement Ring

When it comes to an engagement ring – everyone is different. Some ladies will take it off when they get home from work and forget to put it on again; others won’t let it out of their sight for a second. Which ever type you fall into, you’re precious ring will need some maintaining from time-to-time. That means taking care of your ring and keeping it super sparkly!

Here are a few methods on how to clean your engagement ring:

Vodka

Apparently this is a method that Drew Barrymore swears by. Simply soak your ring in a tumbler for an hour or so and brush any grime lightly away with a tooth brush. This isn’t a method that needs to be done daily (before you go stocking up on Smirnoff) but it can be handy for special events.

Baking Soda

Is there anything that baking soda can’t clean? This mild and no abrasive agent is a great option for anyone who is worried about being too coarse with their ring. Mix baking soda with a small amount of water to form a paste. Gently rub this paste into your ring, concentrating on the setting. This will clean your ring without causing major damage to any metals. Simply dry and polish with a lint free cloth.

Detergent

With 1 part mild dishwashing detergent and three parts warm water; take a soft or used toothbrush and gently scrub the stone of your ring. This is a really good way to eliminate oils from lotions. Leave overnight is your ring is especially dirty.
