We officially want to be part of this bridesmaid girl gang! Getting ready for Aoife and Damien’s special day looked so much fun…
A surprise proposal during a holiday in America, allowed the pair to enjoy their new status alone before continuing the celebrations with family in Ireland and again with pals on their return to Perth. And it was homeward bound again for the sweethearts when they travelled all the way from Oz for their special day at Faithlegg House Hotel & Golf Resort on December 29th 2015.
In keeping with the most magical time of year, romantic Christmas details featured throughout the day. From open fires, mulled wine and mince pies to soft candlelight and a piano playing gently in the background. Swoon!
Aoife dazzled in a soft and beautifully feminine Sophia Tolli gown featuring delicate ivory lace over light gold. An intricate pearl and beaded belt completed its luxurious feel. On-trend, strappy sandals from Tony Bianco finished her bridal look perfectly.
Her bridal party looked elegantly chic in black bridesmaid dresses – a stunning choice for winter.
The groom wore a grey custom-made suit from Germanicos Tailors, Perth, teamed with dapper Batman cufflinks and shoes by Ted Baker. “He tried on many suits from different brands but he he eventually decided to go with Germanicos. The service provided was exceptional.”
“We decided to have our wedding at Christmas because we hadn’t been home for Christmas in a few years and it would also give any friends who were able to travel back an excuse to go home for Christmas as well. To fit in with the romantic Christmas theme of mulled wine and roaring fires, we decided we wanted a country house as the venue. While we were back home, I travelled around to see a few country-house hotels and Faithlegg House Hotel ticked all the boxes. Every single element was more than I had anticipated and it also gave us more choices regarding the number of guests. It was an easy decision in the end!”
“The luxurious feel of Faithlegg is probably the biggest thing that impressed us. We knew it would be a place our guests would look forward to going to and spending the night. Also the attentiveness and friendly nature of the staff was the cherry on top.”
“Our favourite thing about working with our photographer Katie Kavanagh was how fun and laid back she is. She arrived into our suite on the morning of the wedding in the middle of hair and makeup preparations and she instantly just started working away without needing to ask us to do anything. She joined in with our laughing and joking and made the morning even more fun. We never once in the whole day felt like we were sick of posing for photos, Katie made it so easy-going and fun and she really did think of everything. She made the whole process enjoyable which really shows through in our photos.”
“After we had finished our wedding portraits and when our guests were called in for dinner, Damien and I enjoyed a few moments as husband and wife in one of the lounges. We were serenaded by a piano player, it was really special. This was the first moment all day where it was just us two and it was really lovely to have those 30 minutes together as newlyweds.”
Huge thanks to Aoife and Damien for sharing their special day with us and to Katie Kav Photography for allowing us the pleasure of publishing their wedding photographs. You can see more of her work at www.katiekav.com
