Okay, so we don’t have a crystal ball, and we can’t read Martha Stewart’s palm, but we do have a fair idea of what’s hot when it comes to a wedding. Oversized bouquets, sparkly necklines, naked wedding cakes are just a few 2014 wedding trends to watch out for!
Woodland Wedding
A huge theme last year seemed to be a chic rustic look. Well this year is no different, but it has been upgraded and glammed up slightly. Expect to see a juxtaposition of chic and shabby. Flower crowns instead of veils, mismatched bridesmaid gowns, loose braids. Expect twinkling lights of decor and maybe even campsite locations when it comes to venues.
Off The Grid Weddings
Celebs have been doing it for years, but expect to switch off your phones throughout the ceremony reception – cos you won’t need em! Expect to hear requests for no photos on social media sites of the day. If you’re planning your wedding, why not leave a sign by the entrance, or a phone check at the door? If you want the fun of your guest photos on the day but would like to have a little creative control too, why not ask your guests to upload them to the same site.
Floral Fever
While flowers are pretty much gonna show up at every wedding this year, people will get a lot more creative with how they are used. Cascading bouquets, floral crowns for flower girls and real head pieces for the bride.
Photo Booth Fun
Some love them, others hate them; either way, they aren’t going anywhere! Evolving from the vintage monogrammed strips to in-house projects set up by friends and even photo shoot areas, there’s little reason not to love them. Plus, the new slow-motion video trend cropping up has really taken it to the next level.
Crop Top
The ’90s is alive, and it’s showing off its midriff! With temporary tattoos making their way in too, we have to say, we kinda love the revival and new spin. Cropped tops should show off an area well below the bust and above the belly button (i.e. your smallest area, above your waist).
Trash-The-Dress Counteract
It seems that instead of trash-the-dress sessions (where brides spend a day with their photographer ruining a dress), formal portraiture has come back in favor. Think of it as a major nod to grandparents and great-grandparents, where photography wasn’t as instant and much more curated.
