When you begin planning your wedding you may not even be all that interesting in all things weddings. But, even if you haven’t always pictured your perfect day from the age of 5, you will soon realise that world of weddings is an addictive place! You will want to know everything there is about the wedding process! We were lucky enough to catch up with Rose from Lough Rea Hotel, Galway, who shared with us what it’s really like preparing for a wedding event.
“Where do you even begin with organising a wedding event? That’s a good question! There is so much to think about when organising a wedding event, but the first thing for us to do, is decide on a date and time that you think will suit all your prospective wedding couples. Once you have that decided, you are on your way!”
“Everyone puts in a huge effort to make the event a success. All departments of the Lough Rea Hotel get involved including our kitchens, spa, accommodation team, maintenance team, and of course our wedding events team! As well as this, managers including the general manager and department managers even the hotel owner plays a part. We pull out all the stops here in the Lough Rea Hotel and Spa!”
“For a wedding event, we need create a vision and decide on a theme on how the ballroom and the hotel will look on the day. This can be one of the most difficult parts of planning a wedding event as you have to be very clear about your final look. And you only really see it come together on the day of the event – so you need to have a little foresight! That can be the hardest part waiting until the day of the event to see your vision happen!! But for our upcoming wedding event, we have a little more excitement as our ballroom is currently being refurbished. We really can’t wait to see the finished product, all I can say is its going to be fabulous!”
“Every part of the venue gets showcased, we want the wedding couples and their family to experience all aspects of the hotel as they would on their wedding day. For this event however, we have a new addition to the hotel to showcase, our “Rooftop Garden” which is just beautiful. Panoramic views of Loughrea Lake and the Galway Countryside…. It is a slice of heaven. It makes a location for wedding photos too or a lovely place to sip some bubbly and catch your breath before joining your guests for dinner.”
“We really can’t wait to meet all the wedding couples and show them all the new developments in the hotel from our newly refurbished Lobby and Lir Bar to your Roof Top Garden and of course our newly refurbished Ballroom. One of the first questions couples ask is how many guests our ballroom can seat. Our ballroom can cater for up to 360 guests but we can also cater for more intimate weddings as our ballroom splits into two rooms and we also have the beautiful Slieve Aughty Suite on the 4th floor overlooking Loughrea Lake which is ideal for a civil ceremony and next to our Roof Top Garden.”
Thanks again Rose for that inside look into preparing for a wedding event! Find out more about Lough Rea Hotel’s upcoming event on 14th September here.
