Talk to the Experts - Fota Island Wedding Forum

As you all know by now, I like to keep you guys up to date with the various wedding fairs going on around the country.  And I do love to see a hotel moving away from the standard displays/fashion show routine.  Well, the Fota Island Resort in Cork has done just that and is bringing together seven of Ireland’s most sought after experts come together for one exclusive evening to answer all your questions.

Taking place on Thursday 26th November, the Fota Island Resort Wedding Forum will host beauty experts, boutique owners, bridal fashion, executive chef, makeup artists, and a travel expert.  They will all speak on their various topics, but then the audience will be given the opportunity to ask questions (via secret Question Sheets) which the panel will then answer.

  • Phyl Clarke, stylish beauty editor of the Irish Times, will be passing on her extensive knowledge to brides-to-be to ensure their skin looks flawless and photo-perfect on the big day. Meanwhile, the dashing Leonard Daly of Queen Beauty Emporium will be demonstrating and discussing his much sought after makeup tips. Queen Beauty Emporium is a hair and beauty wonderland in Dublin City Centre, whose hair stylists and makeup artists are the country’s most in-demand for celebrities and fashion shoots.
  • Sharon Hoey Bridal Boutique will have the new Sharon Hoey and Jenny Packham collection for 2010 on show on the night and will be on hand to take any questions or queries on how to choose the perfect wedding dress. Described by Vogue as ‘the First Lady of party wear’ and ‘one of London’s most successful exports’, each season Jenny Packham provides brides throughout the world with unique and inspirational designs. Most recently Jenny designed Liz Hurley’s amazing gown for her wedding in India.
  • Pól Ó Conghaile will be giving honeymoon advice on the evening. Current Irish Travel Journalist of the Year, Pól writes for The Irish Independent, Condé Nast, Cara Magazine and The Irish Examiner, is a regular contributor to RTÉ Radio One’s Marian Finucane Programme, and is a guest presenter in the forthcoming series of No Frontiers – so expect expert advice on the loveliest locations to unwind after your big day!
  • Executive Head Chef at Fota Island Resort, Neil Foster, will impart his extensive culinary knowledge on the evening, assisting you in designing the perfect wedding menu.
  • The Mulberry Tree Wedding Accessory Showroom will also be advising on those all-important finishing touches – from stationery and quills to adorable honeymoon flip flops which tell the world your good news in your footprints!
  • Wedding photographer Brian Terry, whose first photographic ‘assignment’ was a neighbour’s wedding he covered as a schoolboy over fifteen years ago, will also advise on how best to capture the day.
  • Lorraine Keane will host the evening, which will also include a presence from Confetti Magazine, fantastic prizes and great goodie bags with treats from Lancôme and much more! (we love goodie bags!)

It all takes place next Thursday 26th November at Fota Island Resort from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.  Entry is free, but they want you to register via the website or call directly on (021) 488 3700 to book your complimentary places.  If you’re going, keep an eye out for me as I’ll be there too!
