Tip Tuesday: Planning a Wedding

Phew, planning a wedding can seem quite daunting at the beginning. Once the rush of the engagement begins to wear off, you slowly but surely realize there’s more to this wedding business than just cake tasting and looking at pretty blogs.

So here are three simple foundations to lay down when you begin to plan your day.

Time

It’s a marathon, not a race. While planning trendy aspects like décor and stationery may seem tricky, the basics like the dress, venue, food and even entertainment probably won’t change. The more time you give yourself, the more time you will have to save and spend your budget effectively.

Priorities

Decide at the beginning of your budget where your money should lie. If you want your venue to be the talk of the day, invest here. If you want top notch photos or a favourite local band, put your money into it. Spend the least amount in the areas that aren’t as important to you.

Pleasing Others

Accepting now that it will be impossible to get everyone on board with your wedding decisions is the wisest thing you can do. No doubt, your mom will hate that you’re not spending a night alone before the wedding, your aunt will not like your menu options and your cousin doesn’t care for your band choice. Well, guess what? It’s your wedding! If you love your day and they majority of your guests are happy then you are on the right track!

What has been your biggest wedding planning challenge so far?
