Trident Hotel Gets €1.5m Revamp

Kinsale’s most elegant hotel, The Trident, is poised for a €1.5 million revamp.

The €1.5m investment ensures the stunning suites and guestrooms see a major make-over. Including a selection of specially commissioned monotone coastal photography, chosen by photographer, Rohan Reilly and brand new furniture pieces, specially selected by designer, Daphne Daunt.

The investment couldn’t come at a better period for the Trident, who are going through their busiest period to date. A popular venue for boutique weddings, events and conferences, it holds an enviable waterfront location overlooking the famous yachting harbour, making it the perfect spot for couples on their wedding day.

Hotel General Manager, Hal McElroy, who is celebrating thirty-years at the helm of the Trident, spoke about the fantastic work that has been done,

“Versatility is the defining feature of our hotel which offers the most intimate and sophisticated location for guests to relax, unwind and soak up the breath-taking views of the harbour and enchanting town of Kinsale. The team here have worked very hard to create something really special with the new look public areas, guest rooms and suites and we greatly look forward to welcoming you as our guest.”

Designer Daphne Daunt, adds a splash of colour and vibrancy to the hotel, with the refurbishment including ambient colours, matching the tranquility setting of the hotel,

“My first impressions of the Trident was of the warmth and friendliness of those I met and of the location which is so special, like being on an ocean liner. I wanted to reflect that in the way I designed the rooms.”

“The furniture in each guest room has been specially commissioned including art-deco styled dressing tables in a vibrant red, came to life with lots of help and expertise from O’Donnell’s of Skibbereen, all the new furniture pieces are sophisticated & stylish giving the rooms a modern feel mixed with classical comfort.”

Daunt explained how the vibrant colours and textures were chosen, to showcase the furnishings and compliment the stunning waterfront views, through the floor to ceiling windows. Lots of fresh and colourful materials from Jane Churchill and Nina Campbell were also chosen, to add a touch of luxury to each room. Soft furnishings, were custom made by Ken Jackson’s team in Cork, while the acres of beautiful curtains come from Buggy Curtain Making, Ballon in Carlow.

Other features which are highlights for visitors and tourists alike, include Pier One, the only waterfront restaurant offering the freshest of seafood and locally sourced produce in the Gourmet Capital. The Wharf Tavern and Terrace, welcoming golfers, sailors, locals and holidaymakers over a number of decades. And the hotels new fore-deck bar, the perfect spot in the summer sunshine, offers guests the chance to get on board a boat, unwind and take in the sea breeze while sipping on a delicious cocktail or ice cold beer.

The Trident Hotel which has a private marina, onsite parking and a wide range of the art facilities for weddings, conferences and events, ticks the box for any occasion, from intimate events to larger gatherings catering to over 200 people.
