Emer and Dean got their happily ever after on August 14th 2015 in an elegantly understated celebration at the Everglades Hotel. Family and friends came first for this lovely couple. Their most special moment was taking the opportunity to stand back and witness their guests enjoying themselves. And thanks to their photographer Gerry McCarron, they now have beautiful shots of their special day to treasure for years to come.
It all began nine years’ ago after meeting through one of the bride’s best friends. From day one, they clicked and Dean sealed the deal by asking her to be his girlfriend on Valentine’s Day 2010.
Fast forward four years and Dean jumped over every hurdle possible to make his Belfast proposal to Emer the most perfect moment imaginable. After a day of shopping, a secret hunt for some sweet treats and a little help from some very anxious waiting staff, it all came together in the end as most fairytales do.
“Off we went to Belfast, done some shopping and at many stages of the shopping spree; Dean was making numerous trips to every confectionery shop we passed. To my knowledge he was thirsty and was buying a bottle of water. And at some points he just literally disappeared. Little did I know my boyfriend was purchasing numerous packets of Love Hearts in the hope to find the sweet with ‘MARRY ME’ on it – but he didn’t succeed!”
“That night we had a lovely meal at Beatrice Kennedys. After we ate, the waitress asked would we like dessert, I said ‘No’ as I was completely stuffed with all the food – little to my knowledge this made it a bit harder for the staff that night! After this, Dean insisted we get a cocktail – down came the cocktail with a little plate of chocolates, three love hearts stating ‘Will you be mine for keeps’, and a Faberge egg laying in the middle. I couldn’t even open the egg, Dean had to do it for me and put the ring on – of course I said yes after a few tears.”
Staying true to herself in an intricately embroidered gown by Sottero and Midgley, Emer complimented her stunning vintage inspired look with simple make-up and hair. The flower arrangements on the day were a sight to behold, powder blue and natural blooms added a touch of romantic innocence when paired with the pretty flower girl dresses and absolutely divine numbers which were work by Emer’s main ladies. Old world jars and table numbers dotted the evening banquet in keeping with the couple’s charming theme.
After their one-of-a-kind chapel service where the entertaining priest gave the bride and groom “a bit of a sore touch” – they made their way to the Everglades Hotel for a truly spectacular celebration which was made complete by the dedicated staff.
“They bent over backwards to make our wedding one to remember and made us feel so special. The team provided a service that we will never forget. How they carried the service from start to finish was second to none, very professional and with so much care. The guests are still complimenting the food and how the function as a whole was well organised. It was top class and I could not fault one thing. We loved how the wedding remained private with its very own bar and reception area, it made our day a very intimate affair, which meant a lot.”
And of course their romantic nuptials would not have been complete without the amazing work of their photographer Gerry Mac.
“Gerry is very close to our family and is as chilled out and relaxed as myself and Dean. He snapped natural shots throughout the day with sheer professionalism – there was no stress or fuss and we are so happy with the outcome.”
“We would like take this opportunity to thank our Photographer Mr Gerry McCarron for his patience and providing an amazing service on the day, also to our videography Mr Declan Nelis for capturing each special moment, to Celine Devine of Devine Cakes who created our stunning wedding cake and to Declan McGuinness at Declan World for our amazing wedding invitations, the creativeness was unbelieveable!”
“And finally to our guests who made our day one to remember. The effort that people made to be part of our special day is sometime we will treasure forever.”
A huge thank you to Emer and Dean for sharing their gorgeous wedding with us and to the very kind Gerry Mac Photography for showcasing these intimate shots from the day.
