So you’ve overspent a little on your wedding budget… Don’t worry, you’re not the first couple. But, now that most of it is all said, done and spent, you may be having a little buyer’s remorse. If this is the case, why not make back some of your spending by selling on some of your wedding items? Here are some money saving ideas for after the wedding.
The Wedding dress
Probably the most resold item from a wedding, gone is the tradition of holding on to your dress for your future daughter. Although, vintage style and retro dresses are fairly on trend right now, the chances are a typical bodice strapless piece won’t be what your daughter will want. If you’re sentimental about the gown, keep it. But if your dress wasn’t your most cherished memory, you could stand to make half of the money you spent back (considering how well kept or on trend it is).
Bulk Décor
Runners, bunting, napkins, chalkboard signs, unused favours, table numbers… Stunning, but where are you going to keep them all? The answer… SELL! And fast too, wedding décor trends definitely come and go quickly so get it on eBay before it’s too late! Keep a few little bits for home décor and scrap books, but everything else can go up for sale.
Unwanted Gifts
It may sound terrible, but what will you do with five vases? Most store’s gift receipts only offer an exchange on the item. Our verdict? Sell it on! Plenty of other people may love the idea of your unwanted gift and you shouldn’t feel guilty about not using it (not that the person has to know). If you feel a little to mean selling it, why not re-gift it to someone who you know will love it? Everyone is happy!
