Wedding Traditions You Really Don’t Have to Follow

Wedding Traditions You Really Don’t Have to Follow

Let’s face it, rules are definitely meant to be broken! The truth is (in my humble opinion) that the modern wedding should be a culmination of traditions that you agree with and letting go of rules that aren’t really you. It’s your day and it should be enjoyed as you have always imagined it. Here are just a few wedding traditions that you don’t have to follow.

A Bride with a Bump

These days, plenty of celebs are tying the not after having their baby, think Kim K or Jessica Simpson. Sometimes life just works out that you’ve had the baby and the house before the wedding day, and sometimes you find that it happens all at once!

Spending the Night Before Apart

In today’s world, most couples end up actually living with each other for years before actually saying “I do”. If you’re more comfortable sleeping in a bed together and facing your day together, throw out that rule. Seeing the bride before the wedding doesn’t mean you will have any bad luck thrown upon you!

Dad Walking You up The Aisle

Okay, we’re pretty guilty of shedding a tear to hearing and seeing stories about dad’s walking their little girl up the aisle. But, the truth is, not all families will have a father figure present on the day. A school teacher of mine once told our class that when she was getting married, her father had already passed away. So, instead of recruiting another male family member to do the deed, her and her man to be walked up the aisle together. She said they decided to face their marriage together as a couple instead. Probably one of the most romantic things I have heard (and by the way I am totally stealing that idea).

What wedding rules are you planning on breaking?
